Ezra & Baptism

This past weekend was a blessing from God. Amy and I had such a great weekend I hardly know where to start!

Men of God BWCA Couple BBQ

Saturday we hosted a BBQ for the families of the men who went on the Men of God BWCA trip in June. The BBQ was also a most delicious event. We served grilled Chicken and my famous smoked Babyback ribs with Corn bread plus each family brought a side. It was a ton of food.

The afternoon was a great time of socializing and enjoying delicious food. Amy and I were thankful that everyone was able to attend.

Ezra

Saturday night my eldest brother Timothy and his wife Manju arrived in town from Maryland with my 3-month old nephew Ezra. Since Amy and I were planning to go meet Ezra Labor Day weekend, we did not go out for his birth. So this was our first opportunity to meet the latest addition to the family. Amy and I had been quite excited for Labor day to meet Ezra and then the next thing I am going to talk about came up and Timothy, Manju, and Ezra decided to come down for the weekend.

Ezra is an awesome baby (for those of you that know me well understand that this is quite a bold statement from me). He may not have mastered the “Up top” or have an affection for Taco Bell yet, but he has plenty of time to learn. Ezra is truly a blessing from God for Timothy and Manju and Amy and I could not be more happy for them!

Lastly, Sunday marked the annual River Valley All Church Picnic & Baptism. This was Amy and I’s first year attending the picnic and I must say it was an awesome event. Free burgers, hot dogs, grilled corn, soda, and Culvers custard all with great games for kids and live music for the adults. Definitely an annual must attend event. River Valley also does baptisms at the picnic, which I chose to take part in. After all of the amazing changes God has made in my life it was more than time for me to make the public declaration of my faith in God and the resurrection of my savior Jesus Christ. This picture sums it up well. It was awesome to be baptized in front of 2,500 other believers including my family (including Timothy, Manju, and Ezra) and many of my close friends. God has truly blessed Amy and I in the past year with all of the amazing people of God we have become friends with.

Love this poem

[i carry your heart with me(i carry it in]

by e.e. cummings

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

I heart Culver’s!

Those of you that know me, know my love for Culver's

There is absolutely nothing like a $4.89 kids meal that comes with a full size burger (everything on it please), crinkle-cut fries, a soda, and a cup of fudge or caramel topped custard to top it off.  Mmmmm.  My mouth is watering now.

We’re heading there for dinner tonight and I can hardly wait!  It’s been almost 3 weeks since we’ve last eaten at the delicious (and economically priced) Culver’s!

What is your favorite restaurant?  Do you have a standard menu item that you order every time? or do you vary it up?
