Apple For The Win!!!

This just goes to show that you really truly do catch more flies with honey than vinegar…

About 4 months ago Samantha’s ipod (her Christmas present) from my mom broke. I called Apple and was told to ship it in for a cost of $32 or I could buy AppleCare for $40 and they’d cover shipping. A no brainer…

A week later I received the ipod back and was told the break wasn’t covered under warranty and they couldn’t do anything. So now we’re out $40 with a broken ipod they won’t fix… Great.

Today my mom brought the letter in and asked for me to call and see how much it’d be to fix.

I was told $99 + $6 shipping. Normally companies will at least give you free shipping if you ask nicely, so I did. He puts me on hold to get a supervisor. I wait about 7 minutes and Logan, the supervisor, comes on.

I tell him my story and he says he’d be happy to waive shipping for me, great! He also says the old AppleCare won’t be good for the fixed ipod so he offers to refund that and let me purchase a new AppleCare plan. I say ok, that’d be great.

He pauses.

Then says he’s having such a great week and he’d like to do something nice for me. He’s just going to cover the broken ipod under the previously purchased ipod plan!!! No $99 charge, no new AppleCare charge, no $6 shipping charge. TOTALLY covered under the old AppleCare plan. He’s just going to have them send out a brand new ipod :-)

So, because of my patience and willing to wait and explain a situation calmly and nicely I got my sister a new replacement ipod and saved my mom $105 :-)

Thank you Apple. I could not be happier right now! You have made another devoted customer out of my mother and myself. The $100 you lost will be well made up by the time I get done telling everyone how awesome you are :-)

November 11 you come too quickly

So this year I haven’t really thought about my birthday at all, which is weird for me. Every year I always anticipated the day months and months in advance. Last year I booked our Vegas trip for my birthday more than 6 months ahead of time. That was before my birthday was sad.

My mom just called. Reminding me why it was sad and reminding me why I had chosen to forget my bday this year…

Anywho, we’re going to shut down the office that day, not for my birthday, but for the other reason. The same reason we came home early from Vegas.

The whole company will be going out to lunch and then we’ll be going bowling to remember him and just be together as a company, he would have liked that. It’ll be a sad day, but a fun day too. It’ll be nice to have a day to remember, cause so many days all I try and do is not remember. Cause if I don’t remember I can pretend he’s just out hunting and will be back at work in a few days or week or two. And if I keep not remembering I can avoid these tears that are falling right now.

Remembering hurts. But if we don’t remember that’s worse. No one can forget him. We never will…

I love school…

I enjoyed the summer but looking back I realized I wasn’t feeling totally like myself. I think it’s because I wasn’t in school. When I’m in school I feel like there’s purpose and I’m moving forward in life. When I’m not in school I feel like I’m at a stand still and not going anywhere.

I am so happy to be back and school and I can hardly wait for my Monday class to start so I have class two nights a week again… I even like homework :-)
