Haven't been on here in quite a while…
We went to Colorado Jan 7-12 to stay with Julie and Adam and snowboard. We had an absolutely amazing time!!! Silverthorne and it's surrounding area (Summit County) was all so amazingly beautiful. Driving through the mountains and snow was amazing, I can see why Julie and Adam have chosen to live out there.
Our first day we snowboarded at Keystone, Julie and Adam's favorite, I was so jealous they get to board there every single day of the season! It was insane how long it would take us to get down the mountain!!! The runs out there are infinitely longer than the ones here!!! For a run here it takes about a min, if that, if you are bombing the hill. At Keystone it'd take us at least 20 when we were going all the way down! After we took J and A out to dinner to their favorite Mexican restaurant as a thank you for having us. Nathan and I split the fajitas and they were delish!!! After we rented Pineapple Express and Julie made us some totally awesome, customly picked out by us, neck gaiters!
Saturday we went to Beaver Creek, which is next to Vail and about 30-40 min from Julie and Adam's. This was our favorite stop!!! We were so thankful for our helmets here, we did a ton of tree riding! We'd basically follow runs and as available dip into tree clusters! There were numerous times I fell because I kept riding into fresh powder in the woods and as a snowboarder you need to follow other tracks, I finally picked up on that, but honestly falling in the powder was pretty fun, it was like falling into a bed of feathers!!! The only bummer was the massive effort that was required to get out of the powder! It would take me several minutes to maneuver myself out after a fall…
Saturday night we stopped at the good ole Taco Bell on the way back from Beaver Creek and picked up a taco feast for the 4 of us! After we ate Julie proceeded to show me how to crochet beanie hats!!! That girl is way talented! Her and I crocheted while we watched Reign over me- pretty decent flick… While we were doing that Nathan was busily working on his homework so he'd be able to go to Breckenridge with us on Sunday, unfortunately he didn't make it that day
Sunday J, A, and I headed over to Breckenridge (about 20 from their house) and we proceeded to almost kill ourselves, lol!!! We did a few runs while we waited for the Imperial Lift to open, which is the highest chairlift in the US. It was incredibly snowy and windy and freezing out that day!!! Anywho, the Imperial finally opened and we headed up it- this lift started after the tree line, and proceeded to bring us, to what seemed like to me, the tip of the mountain- I know it wasn't but with all the clouds I couldn't actually see the tip and well, it felt like the summit! We rode down that portion of mountain back to the Imperial lift and then rode up the Imperial again… This time we hiked on a ridge about 20 or so yards through white out conditions!!! Adam was ahead of me and at times I couldn't see him, Julie behind me. Her and I were kind of freaking, it's not so safe when you can't see anything, but both of us were like screw it, we're already out here lets keep going and ride down! So we eventually made it past the rock outcroppings and to a place where we could ride down, it was insanely awesome!!! Boarding through snow and wind so thick we could barely see the other one boarding in front of us… Nathan was so bummed he missed out…
We only stayed at Breck for about 4 hours and then J and A drove me to the tacky tourist area and I picked up our geek gear
with Breckenridge written all over it!!! And I got our Christmas ornaments with all the resorts we went to names on them.
Anywho, that's our CO trip.
Lately I've been crocheting hats like mad!!! Made one for Mantha, Jim, Olivia, and Gwen and I'm working on one for Heather right now!
2-days after we got back from CO Nathan flew out to Cali to ride home with Steve and Kevin, Kevin moved back home- yay!!! They had a totally awesome time from what it sounds like!!! They got home Sunday.
Anywho, not much else going on. Nathan and I are both busy with school- he has class on Monday's and I have class on Wednesday's.
