80s Workout Party and Kristie's Bridal Shower

So this weekend Amanda had an 80s workout themed party. It was Awesome!

I will post pics in the photo gallery on here later. Seriously though, I couldn't stop laughing the whole night, it was insane and fun and everyone's costumes rocked.

Sunday was Kristie's Bridal Shower. It went really well and we had a good turnout! Jessica and especially Polly helped me prepare all the food and I'm so thankful for them. Kristie got some amazing gifts! The games were fun and everything was great! So exciting that her big day is just weeks away. I can hardly wait!!! She also gave me the most amazing hostess gift for having her party- which I was not expecting at all, but it's so incredibly perfect!! It's a Willow Tree Angel holding a pineapple- those of you that know me know I LOVE pineapples- they are the international sign of welcome and friendship. Anytime I see anything pineapple I always have my pic taken with it. I have pics of me and pineapples from all over :-D Anywho, it was a thoughtful gift, probably one of the best gifts I've ever gotten, just because it's perfectly me!

Anywho, that's all for now. Hope everyone is doing well!!!

Florida 2008

Got back from Florida on Saturday. Had a great time. I wish my mom could have stayed for the whole time, but duty calls…

Wednesday we went to Sanibel and Captiva Islands and relaxed on the beaches, my mom and aunt found bag fulls of shells. I've done the shell thing and am ok without it. I just walked along with them enjoying the sunshine and crash of the ocean. After the islands we drove over (in our shiny red convertible- grrr) to Fort Myers Beach and enjoyed some dinner and a few daiquiri's ($7.50/drink- ouch!!! Didn't realize this til the bill- oops).

Thursday my mom had to head home to go to the memorial service for my sister's dad. After we dropped her at the airport my aunt and I continued back to Fort Myers Beach where we did her souvenir shopping for her family and I picked up a few fun things for myself…

Friday we did a lunch cruise to Cabbage Key and enjoyed some dolphin sighting's as well.

Saturday I was very glad to come home. I missed the easiness of being with my man. He's the best, really. We had a terrifically awesome weekend. Yesterday could not have been any better. I don't know why but we were both in fantastic moods and our playful banter just went back and forth all day. It's hard to believe sometimes that there is a man out there so perfectly suited for me and I happened to have found him. He really is the best…

Anywho, this week I need to spend my weeknights cleaning the house so that Saturday all I need to do is make the foods for Kristie's shower on Sunday. Saturday night we have Amanda's 'Get Fit for Summer 80s workout' party. Its gonna be a blast but like I said I have to have all K's shower stuff ready to go so if I want to sleep in on Sunday I can :-)

Making a few salads, some fun desserts, and some fruit punch. I also need to pick up prizes this week and paper plates and napkins. Polly and Jessica are coming over on Saturday to help, which will be nice :-D

Not much else going on!!!

Update…

So, last week, my sisters dad died. He has been an alcoholic pretty much all his life. He finally sobered up (again) and was living in a halfway house at Midwest Challenge (part of MN Teen Challenge) and doing well. He laid down to sleep last Wednesday at 4:30 and when someone went to wake him at 6pm he was gone.

My sisters have only seen him 2 or 3 times in the past 10 years. The last time they saw him was around a year ago when he was in the hospital. They're having a hard time dealing with it. On one hand it's easier because they didn't really know him and hadn't seen him much in their lives, on the other hand it's harder because of that. I'm sure somewhere inside them they always hoped that one day maybe he'd be that dad they hoped he would be, that maybe he'll be at their high school graduation's, that maybe he'll be there to walk each of them down the aisle. But those hopes are gone now. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers they need it.

My mom, aunt, and I are supposed to go to Florida this week, but with the memorial service for Walt my mom is coming home early on Thursday. My aunt and I will stay for the entire planned time. My mom hadn't been able to find a cheap flight and was going to have to fork out $400 to come home early but this morning we found her a flight for $185 which is a blessing.

Not much else going on. We're just trying to figure out the Kentucky trip for May, it's been really frustrating. We were initially planning on staying with Timothy and Manju but that is not working out. Looking at hotels they're kinda spendy and more than we have to put towards the trip… Also we found out last week that we aren't guaranteed entry into the Graduation Ceremony if it rains, because they each only get 4 tickets for an inside ceremony. So we'd be driving 12hrs+ each way for a 1-2hr ceremony on Sunday night. Plus hotel and food costs and your looking at $400+. We were hoping they'd be ok with us just taking that $ and buying airfare to come visit them at their new home once they get settled in Maryland. I guess we'll see what happens.

Not much else, I'm really looking forward to FL!!! We leave tomorrow at 3:30, it's gonna be so much fun!!! (Plus it's free!!!!)

The Last Lecture by Rany Pausch

If you are only going to watch an hour of TV this week…watch this. His last lecture is amazing. I personally have watched it three times and I will probably watch at least three more times.
